Cherry Valley Community Church (CVCC) is a community of believers dedicated to The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are disciples living life together as a family, learning the Ways of the Lord through His Word, The Bible, encouraging one another and showing the world around us the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
Our Purpose
To love God and love others according to the Scripture’s. To living life together as
Disciples of Jesus Christ, who in turn, disciple others to become Disciples.
This happens through relationships; first with Jesus, then with others, as we live out Biblical values that influence and shape us and those around us.
Our Plan
Living out discipleship as a daily way of life by:
Seeking His Way as Disciples
Studying His Truth from the Bible
Stepping into His Life by Living Life Together
Our Precepts
Present, Proclaim, Promote, Participate, Persevere
Present ourselves humbly before the Living God
in worship and obedience to Him.
Proclaim our hope in the Risen Savior
Jesus Christ, to a confused and hopeless world.
Promote spiritual maturity in the body of Christ
through discipleship and training of Biblical truth.
Participate actively in the lives of others, whether
it is convenient or not by creating eternal relationships.
Persevere together in love and service to Jesus,
our church family and the world around us.
Our Proclamation
The plans of our Lord will always take precedence over the plans of men.
Our prayer is His will be done in growing His church using obedient saints.
We must never forget we are His children, created to love and serve Him.
We seek to meet the needs of every person beginning with our local community as we focus on loving God and loving others through God’s example of Biblical love.
Biblical love is found in John 15:
Obedience to God’s Word and sacrifice of self for the sake of others.
This is the life we are called to live together as His Disciples.
We will focus on Jesus being the only way to the Father. John 14:6: “Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
His Way is making disciples. We will seek His Way as we live out discipleship
through relationships, creating communities of disciples, who will in turn create communities of disciples.
His Truth is found in His Word. We will study the Bible bringing Jesus’ transforming truth to light in our lives to influence the lives of those around us.
His Life is now living in us as believers. With The Holy Spirit living in us we will develop our spiritual gifts and incorporate them into the church, Glorifying God and edifying the body of Christ.
We seek to become a Biblical Equipping Center for those called to the
Gospel Ministry as church planters, pastors and missionaries.
THE APOSTLE’S CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from where He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
We call this the Apostles Creed. This creed is probably the earliest of the main creeds used in Christianity today. The name derives from the legend that the twelve apostles of Christ contributed to it, though the earliest form dates from c.215. The creed gives a clear summary of Christian belief and formed the basis for later creeds.
Counsels were called and Creeds were written to refute heresy in the church and establish truth from the Scriptures. This continues today with all the lies and deceptions of the world infiltrate into the church.
The sins of the world do become the sins of the church and we must stand vigilant, continually articulating our theology and it’s foundation.
Although there are some 500 Christian Creeds today, here are the five historical foundation of most all the other creeds have followed.
Apostles’ Creed: 120-250 AD
Creed of Nicaea: 325 AD
Nicene Creed: 381AD
Chalcedonian Creed: 451AD
Athanasian Creed: 500AD=
Today we call our “Creeds” Articles of Faith. These articles articulate what we believe and why we believe them according to the Holy Scriptures.
CVCC’s Articles of Faith document establishes and proclaims to all who come to Cherry Valley Community Church what we believe and show that The Holy Bible is the ultimate authority.
Cherry Valley Community Church Statement of Faith
In Essentials, Unity; In Non-essentials, Liberty; In All Things Charity
Loving God, Loving People
1. BIBLE
We believe the Bible, consisting of both the Old and New Testament Scriptures in their entirety, is the only divinely inspired, inerrant, objective absolute truth. It is the authoritative written Word of God, and the only infallible rule of faith and practice in the church. The divine inspiration of Scripture extends to each Word of the original manuscript but not to the various copies or translations of Scripture. The Bible should be interpreted literally, grammatically, contextually, and historically. Any and all other writings from, in or of the church must not contradict the Holy Scriptures in any way and all fall under Biblical authority.
Genesis 1-3/ Deuteronomy 29:29/ John 10:35/ 2 Timothy 3:15-17
2 Peter 1:21/ 1 Corinthians 2:13
2. GOD
We believe in One Holy God, Creator of all things seen and unseen. Who is Eternal, Sovereign, Infinite, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent. The Sustainer of all things seen and unseen, known and unknowable.
Genesis 1:1/ Deuteronomy 6:4/ Isaiah 43:10/ Isaiah 44:6/ Isaiah 45:22/ Matthew 28:19
John 4:24/ John 5:26/ Colossians 1:16-19/ 1 Corinthians 8:4
We believe in the Trinity, the triunity of the God head consisting of One God in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. One God in Three persons, all equal in deity and eternality, in full unity.
a) GOD THE FATHER
First person of the trinity, The Father, who is God, who has neither beginning nor ending. The Creator and sustainer of all things is committed to His creation and divinely intervenes in the affairs of man.
Romans 5:8/ Romans 8:32/ John 3:16/ Ephesians 2:4-10
b) GOD THE SON
The Second person of the trinity, Jesus Christ who is God the Son, who has neither beginning nor ending. He was conceived in the flesh by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and was fully God and fully man. Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and was resurrected bodily on the third day. He ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father as our only mediator, high priest, and advocate. His return is eminent to establish His eternal Kingdom.
